In Hinduism, Diwali is known as the “Festival of Lights.” According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated every year on the Amavasya (new moon) of the Kartik month. On this day, homes across the country are illuminated with the light of lamps, and Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth, along with Lord Ganesha, is worshipped. It is considered auspicious to buy utensils and gold or silver during this festival, and many people also purchase certain special plants.
Indeed, along with worshipping Goddess Lakshmi during Diwali, it is beneficial to plant certain types of plants that are believed to please her. According to Ujjain’s Pandit Anand Bharadwaj, plants should be planted before Diwali to seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and wealth.
Here are 5 plants to plant before Diwali:
• White Palash:
Families that have been facing health issues for a long time should plant this tree. It is also known as the plant of Goddess Lakshmi. It is believed that offering Palash flowers to the Goddess can make her happy. Planting this tree in the house is said to bring wealth and improve the health of family members.
• Crassula Plant:
This plant is also known as the Jade Plant. It is believed to attract wealth into the home, and since Goddess Lakshmi is associated with prosperity, the Crassula plant is considered connected to her. It is thought to draw wealth and also bring positive energy into the house.

Nowadays, many households have plants, with the money plant being one of the most common. Planting a money plant is believed to bring happiness and prosperity into the home. It also helps purify the air, and it is said that where this plant is present, Goddess Lakshmi is pleased and enters the home.
• Snake Plant:
It is considered auspicious to place this plant near the main entrance of the house. It protects against negative energy, attracts wealth, and keeps negative energy outside the home. It can also be placed in offices to promote business growth and success, aiding in career or business advancement.
• Tulsi Plant:
This plant is easily found in many homes. It is considered very dear to Lord Vishnu and is regarded as a form of Goddess Lakshmi.
