Sanju Samson has registered an embarrassing record in T20Is. He achieved the unwanted landmark during the 2nd T20I between India and South Africa at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on November 10.
The centurion the previous match was dismissed for a duck after facing three balls. Marco Jansen bowled him in the contest.
Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were also amongst the flops, with the Men in Blue losing three wickets in the powerplay.
Samson is the first Indian batter to register four ducks in a calendar year in T20Is. He was dismissed without troubling the scorers in the third T20I against Afghanistan in January in Bengaluru. He didn’t score in two back-to-back matches against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in July.
Most T20I Ducks In A Year By Indian Batters
He was part of the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but didn’t play. In 11 matches this year, he has amassed 327 runs at an average of 36.33 and a strike rate of 177.71.
He hit a hundred in the first game against the Proteas, becoming the first Indian batter to smash back-to-back centuries in T20Is. However, the next match was not good for the opener, and he will look to make a statement with his bat in the remaining two contests.
