Josh Hazlewood is still unfit, and despite getting a chance to play in the third Test at the Gabba, he was not at his best in the overs he bowled in India’s first innings in Brisbane. Although he took Virat Kohli’s wicket on day 3 of the contest, his speed was down. Former England captain Michael Vaughan spoke about the pacer’s injury concern.
“He is looking ginger, and I am sure he is injured. Things are not looking fine for me and he was not on the ground for some time. Look at his walk and the field placement. Hazlewood was out of the second Test due to side strain and even he is not bowling quickly.
“This has been the case with him for over a year. There is something majorly wrong with and I feel this could be the end of the series for him,” Michael Vaughan said.
Josh lasted for one over on Day 4 of the match and went off the field for treatment in the dressing room. He has been in and out of the team due to injuries, and he hasn’t enjoyed a consistent spell of game time in red-ball cricket. He was Australia’s best bowler in a 295-run loss in the Perth Test.
The series is leveled at 1-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
