Virat Kohli’s doppelganger was seen watching the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Virat is playing his first red-ball game in the premier red-ball domestic tournament after more than 12 years, and his presence was marked by a big crowd at the venue.
Fans from all age groups entered the venue, with school children also spotted cheering for the batter.
A fan who looked like Virat Kohli became the centre of attraction. He sported a beard like the Indian cricketer and also put on similar shades as Kohli. The fans clicked pictures with him outside the stadium.
Earlier, Virat was welcomed with cheers and chants throughout the day. One of the supporters entered the playing area to seek blessings from the batter. He was taken away, but not before Virat urged the security personnel not to punish him.
Several fans were injured while trying to enter the stadium. The DDCA was expecting 10,000 fans, but their assumption went for a toss, and the state body had no choice but to open more stands for the spectators.
The security was beefed up to control any unwanted incident. Delhi captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and elected to bowl first.
