India are up and running in international cricket after a few tough months. They lost to New Zealand and Australia but returned to winning ways against England. The Men in Blue registered a 4-1 win over the English team in T20Is and are leading 2-0 in the ODI series.
In the second contest, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set the tone for a victory, and the other batters capitalized on the good start to take the team home with four wickets in hand in Cuttack.
India were never in trouble while chasing 305, and Rohit was named the Player of the Match for his hundred. Former player Sanjay Bangar lauded the two for their magnificent knocks.
“Rohit Sharma’s innings and his partnership with Shubman Gill didn’t allow England to come back into the game. Their attack made the match one-sided. Rohit went after the bowlers and it was not a small total to chase by an means,” he said.
Suresh Raina agreed with Bangar. “Captain and vice-captain led from the front. Rohit hit sixes in different areas and I feel he should back like that in all the matches,” he said.
India are preparing for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with the sub-continent team set to play their matches in Dubai.
