On Sunday, the BCCI dropped a bombshell by unveiling the much-anticipated IPL 2025 schedule. The excitement starts on March 22 with a thrilling encounter between KKR and RCB – but the drama doesn’t stop there! Mumbai Indians were struck with a massive blow. Their captain, the dynamic Hardik Pandya, has been handed a shock ban for the team’s opening match. And as if that wasn’t enough, Mumbai’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, has raised some concerns over his fitness. Watch a video for more details
Here’s the twist – this penalty for Hardik stems from his disciplinary issues in IPL 2024, where he was penalized for a slow over-rate on three separate occasions. Twice, he was fined a whopping 30 lakh rupees, and the third time, his slow over-rate has now cost him a place in Mumbai’s first match of IPL 2025. The first match for Mumbai will take place on March 23 against their arch-rivals, CSK.
With Hardik’s absence, the responsibility will likely fall on Suryakumar Yadav to take over the leadership reins.
