Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam remained silent when he asked about the disappointing state of Pakistan’s cricket. The team had recently toured New Zealand, where they suffered a 1-4 defeat in the T20I series and a 0-3 loss in the ODI series.
“It’s clear that the country’s spirits are quite low at the moment. But what exactly are we missing? Is it a mental block or a lack of intent? It seems like whenever a team puts up a total above 200, we panic and fall short in the chase. Babar, could you share your thoughts on this?” the reporter questioned.
Babar Azam was asked why Pakistan fails in big chases. He asked Rizwan to answer, but Rizwan had no response.
Shaheen stepped in and said it’s a team game, and they need to bowl better too.

When Babar opted not to respond, he asked Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan, to answer instead. However, Rizwan also remained quiet. Pacer Shaheen Afridi then stepped in to save the two.
“This is our team, Pakistan’s team. When it comes to chasing a total of 200, the responsibility doesn’t lie solely with the batters. The bowlers also need to ensure we don’t concede that many runs. The pitches have been quite favorable for batting, so even if we do end up conceding over 200, it’s still our responsibility to give it our all to chase it. At the same time, we must also be ready to defend such scores. We function as one unit, like a family. If our recent performances haven’t met expectations, then it’s on us to lift Pakistan cricket back to where it belongs.” Shaheen said.
Pakistan cricket has faced intense scrutiny following their elimination in the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy, where they suffered defeats to New Zealand and India.
