Chennai Super Kings could suffer a big setback in the form of MS Dhoni in the remaining matches. The veteran was seen struggling with a right knee issue during the game against the Lucknow Super Giants. He was not at his best in the wicket-keeping department with a restricted moment behind the stumps.
Although he completed a successful stumping and a run-out in the contest, the veteran was not one hundred percent. Before coming out to bat, the 43-year-old was seen limping while climbing the stairs of the dressing room.
He was in discomfort after completing a single and was seen hobbling. Former India player Sanjay Bangar spoke about the injury concern.
“Dhoni was not moving freely behind the stumps during Lucknow’s batting. He is finding it hard to take a single. There is an issue with his right knee. He went under the knife to fix the issue,” Bangar said on Star Sports.
If the injury is aggravated, there is a chance of him sitting out of a few games. Dhoni will have to manage his workload carefully, as the franchise needs him after their poor start to the season. Chennai have lost five matches while winning just two. The second victory over LSG came at the right time, with Dhoni scoring an unbeaten 26 runs off 11 balls. He was named the Player of the Match for leading Chennai to a five-wicket win.
CSK’s regular skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has been ruled out of the remaining games after fracturing his elbow. Dhoni is leading the team in his absence.
