Former India player Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid for Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s hundred in the RR vs GT match in the Indian Premier League 2025. The 14-year-old completed his century in 35 balls, laced with 11 sixes and 7 boundaries. With Rajasthan completing the chase of 210 runs with 8 wickets in hand in 15.5 overs, he was named the Player of the Match. He is the youngest to script a ton in the shortest format history and also broke Yusuf Pathan’s record (37 balls) for the fastest IPL ton by an Indian cricketer.
The southpaw was included in the Playing XI against Lucknow Super Giants after an injury to regular skipper Sanju Samson. He showed glimpses of his talent in the first two contests against LSG and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The trust shown by the Rahul Dravid-led support staff was justified when he hammered Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma in Jaipur.
Harbhajan was left stunned and speechless by Vaibhav’s stunning effort with the bat.
“I would say this is the biggest moment in the history of the Indian Premier League. I mean, he is just 14 and is playing in a tournament which is 18 years old. Vaibhav dominated Test bowlers Rashid, Ishant and Siraj,” he said.
“This is Rahul Dravid’s victory as he invested in the young player. Congratulations to Vaibhav’s parent on the success of their boy,” he added.
Rajasthan have a habit of giving chances to the young players. The franchise groomed Samson, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Ravindra Jadeja became a big name after representing RR in the cash-rich league. The decision-makers knew about Vaibhav’s talent and went all out for his name in the mega auction, securing his services for INR 1.10 crore.
