Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna is enjoying the best phase of his IPL career at the moment. Despite not bowling with the new ball, the tall speedster has taken 19 wickets from 10 matches at an average of 15.36 and an economy of 7.48. He won a few Player of the Match awards in the ongoing 18th season of the tournament, with the latest one coming against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Defending 224 runs, GT restricted SRH to 186/6, with Prasidh taking two wickets and conceding 19 runs from four overs.
He was not retained by Rajasthan Royals, and with Gujarat releasing Mohammed Shami, head coach Ashish Nehra was looking for an Indian seamer. Krishna was his number one target, and he got his man after spending INR 9.50 crore in the mega auction.
The right-arm pacer has justified the move and is taking wickets in every match. After lifting the POTM award trophy, he spoke about the value of the Purple Cap and why it doesn’t mean much in front of the overall success of the team. “Getting the Purple Cap doesn’t feel any different, as winning games for the team is more important. Our last break didn’t go well as we lost to Rajasthan Royals, so it was important to come back stronger after the second break,” Prasidh Krishna said.
The 29-year-old revealed that he is bowling at his best. “I am at the peak of my bowling at the moment and enjoying the way the ball is coming out of my hand,” he added.
Prasidh also shed light on his practice sessions. “My practice starts with how I am going to approach the upcoming game, and I then execute it in the match. I am bowling to the players whom I have played with or against in the past, so it becomes easier to plan against them,” he concluded.
