Planning a beach holiday in 2024? A beautiful undiscovered destination on the Croatian coast might be the perfect spot.
Express.co.uk spoke to travel expert and blogger at Travel Melodies, Anjali Chalwa, to find out which European hidden gem she recommended.
Anjali said: “The charming seaside town of Trpanj, nestled on the Peljesac Peninsula, revealed itself to be a magical Mediterranean haven that has remained largely untouched by mass tourism.
“With its historic old town and the crystal clear waters that meet the pebbly beaches, Trpanj provided us with an authentic and idyllic Croatian experience.”
Trpanj is located close to the island of Korcula and it’s about a two hour drive from Dubrovnik Airport.
Anjali added: “I’ll never forget our first evening strolling through Trpanj’s cobblestone lanes. With ochre houses, red rooftops, and blooming flowers, it was like walking into an old fairytale illustration.
“My husband and I loved our evening walks along the harbour as the sun set, watching fishing boats sway gently in the shimmering turquoise waters – it was our favourite way to end the day.
“As a family that loves the outdoors, we were in beach heaven! The pine-fringed beach of Beach Luka West, with crystal clear Adriatic waters, was pure bliss.
“We’d spend full days swimming and snorkelling to see fish. The pebbly beach was never crowded, giving such a sense of solitude. Beach Luka West became our favourite spot, like our own private paradise.”
Divna Beach is also one of Croatia’s prettiest coastal spots. The pebble beach is easily reached from Trpanj by car.
Anjali told Express.co.uk she also recommends tourists take a winery tour in the region and indulge in some of the area’s fresh seafood.
