On March 14, Mumbai beat Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy final by 169 runs to lift the title for 42nd time. After the win, Shreyas Iyer, who joined the side from semi-finals onward, went viral as a video spread like fire on the Internet where he was seen dancing on the field after his team’s victory. Led by Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai defeated Vidarbha in a close game.
After scoring 7 and 95 in the final, Shreyas Iyer was seen dancing in a viral video following his team’s victory. Here’s the clip that’s making waves on social media.
Notably, Iyer did not come to the field on day 4 and five owing to a back issue. Indian management and KKR are sweating hard over Iyer’s fitness, as the right-hand batter missed IPL 2023 because of a similar issue. IPL 2024 begins on March 22 with CSK taking on RCB in the season opener.
Ahead of the play on day 5, the Times of India had reported that Iyer’s old injury flared up which is why he will not be taking the field and might even miss a few games of IPL 2024.
“It is not looking good. It is the same back injury that has been aggravated. It is unlikely he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL,” a BCCI source told TOI.
