New Delhi: IPL 2024 is all set to begin on March 22 with RCB taking on CSK in the opening match of the cash-studded league. Ahead of the upcoming season, there were reports that the second half of the tournament might move out of India because of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Recently, the Election Commission of India released the schedule for the upcoming elections, which will be held from April 19 with counting scheduled for June 2. The first phase of IPL 2024 fixtures are from March 22 to April 7.
Contrary to the reports, IPL chairman Anil Dhumal stated the board are doing their best to not shift the tournament out of India. Speaking with IANS, Dhumal stated, ” We are working closely with the government agencies and as soon as the dates of general elections are announced, we will figure out the further plan… hopefully the second phase of IPL will take place in India only, it’s not going anywhere else: IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal told IANS.
