Virat Kohli has been in magnificent touch for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2025. He is among the top five run-getters in the 18th season of the tournament, with his three fifties coming in a winning cause. Overall, he has hit four half-centuries.
In the match against the Rajasthan Royals, he completed 3500 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, becoming the first batter in the world to touch this mark at a venue. Kohli, who has struggled against spinners in the past editions, has adopted an aggressive approach, and his strike rate has improved.
The 36-year-old has already crossed the 8300-run mark in the history of the cash-rich league, including 8 hundreds and 59 fifties.
He is the only player to play for one franchise since the inception of the league in the league. Despite his consistency with the bat, the team is looking for its maiden title. RCB qualified for the finals three times but ended up losing the big matches.
Meanwhile, Kohli was retained for INR 21 crore for the ongoing season. He was urged to return as captain, but the legendary batter refused, forcing the team management to appoint Rajat Patidar as the leader.
He was named the Player of the Match for scoring a fifty-plus score in the previous match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh, but the batter was not pleased with the decision as he felt Devdutt Padikkal was the most deserving candidate. The southpaw also crossed the fifty-run mark in the contest. With Virat retiring from T20I after India’s win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, IPL remains the only shortest format tournament he competes in.
