The conflict between India and Pakistan have escalated and there are concerns over the ongoing 18th season of the Indian Premier League. On May 8, the PBKS vs DC was called off midway at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala. Pakistan attacked India with drones and missiles but the defence forces were able to neutralised all attempts.
PCB has shifted the ongoing Pakistan Super League to Dubai due to safety concerns. As Pakistan Cricket Board has already finalized Dubai as the venue, there is a chance that the IPL could take the remaining matches to South Africa.
According to reports, Australian players want to return home. “According to agents of the players, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, Australian players are concerned about their safety in India and many are ready to leave the Indian Premier League 2025 at the earliest,” according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald as quoted by the Hindustan Times.
Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head and several other Aussie starts are competing in the tournament. Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer and Brad Haddin are working as coaches.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the IPL Arun Dhumal informed PTI that the BCCI is reviewing the situation and the board hasn’t recieved any directive form the Indian Government. The apex body of the Indian cricket will take a decision on the future of the tournament after taking the interest of all the stakeholders into consideration.”
