The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to extend Rahul Dravid’s contract as Team India’s head coach, according to ESPNcricinfo. Dravid was approached by the apex body last week, with the extension period being open-ended.
However, Dravid hasn’t responded yet and if he says yes, he is expected to keep the same set of assistant coaches he was working with since 2021.
Vikram Rathour (batting coach), Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach) were with Rahul during his two-year stint.
Speaking after the World Cup final defeat, Dravid heaped massive praise on his players for the way they played. However, he refused to speak about his future with the Men in Blue
“I haven’t thought about it. I will when I get time. I was focusing on our World Cup campaign,” he said.
If Dravid agrees, his first assignment in the second stint will be in South Africa. The sub-continent team will play white-ball matches against the Proteas.
Dravid had replaced Ravi Shastri after the T20 World Cup in 2021.
