Vaibhav Suryavanshi was sensational for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2025. The 14-year-old scored 252 runs, including a 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans. He was compared to Sachin Tendulkar by former India player Navjot Singh Sidhum Tendulkar.
He was 14 years and 23 days old when the southpaw made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants. Just nine days later, he amassed the fastest century by an Indian batter in the Indian Premier League.
He recently scored 190 runs off 90 balls in a red-ball practice match at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He is likely to travel with India Under-19 team for the upcoming tour of England.
Yograj Singh has give him a reality check. Speaking to InsideSport, Yograj spoke about the young batter. “Test cricket is my vision. Can he survive for five days? The longest format is a real test. I don’t go by two white-ball formats. If you can play these two formats, you should be good enough to compete in red-ball cricket. Why do you struggle? Because your concentration is on T20, IPL and 50 overs. Today we can’t even play 50 overs,” he said.
Yograj hit out at coaches and administrators. “All the coaches and the administrators want to achieve results from the AC room. I am working under 48 degrees Celsius to produce cricketers like Yuvraj Singh,” he added.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL heroics impressed players and fans but Yograj is not convinced. “Can he survive for five days? That’s the real test of any cricketer.”
