Kolkata Knight Riders were clinical against Rajasthan Royals in their second match of the Indian Premier League 2025. The visiting side didn’t allow the rivals to settle down in any department of the game, registering an eight-wicket win to accumulate two points. After restricting RR to 151/9, KKR completed the task in 17.3 overs, with Quinton de Kock scoring an unbeaten 97 runs off 61 balls.
He was named the Player of the Match for his stunning knock. However, it was Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali who played key roles in the defending champions’ success against the Riyan Parag-led team.
Varun and Moeen took two wickets each, and their magnificent bowling put Rajasthan on the back foot in the middle overs. The hosts lost four wickets in that phase of the contest and couldn’t recover. Varun sent back Parag and Wanindu Hasaranga. On the other hand, Moeen claimed the scalp of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana.
Former India spinner Piyush Chawla heaped massive praise on Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy for keeping things tight.
“Credit to Varun and Moeen. They knew the ball was keeping low, and there was not much bounce. They allowed the ball to spin by bowling slowly. From 11-14 overs, RR lost four wickets. These two set up the game for KKR,” he said on Star Sports.
