Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu believes that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are in a ‘risky’ situation before of their IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He said that RCB will be under pressure to clinch a place in Qualifier 1 but SRH will play without any pressure.
The 65th match of the IPL 2025 is set to take place on Friday, May 23, at the Lucknow stadium. Bengaluru are ranked second with 17 points from 12 games and will go for a win.
Sidhu stated that RCB’s Rajat Patidar and his colleagues should be wary of SRH.
“SRH are without any pressure. Just look at how Lucknow played. RCB will feel the heat because they need two points. When you chase something, it goes further. On the other hand, SRH are not burdened by pressure and they can play freely,” said.
He also mentioned that RCB will aim to secure a top-two finish in the league stage to improve their chances of winning the trophy.
“They have everything to gain and nothing to lose, while RCB must play with caution. I believe it’s all about staying alert. If you win tomorrow (Friday), it could propel you a long way, as only the top two teams have consistently won the league from 2011 to 2024, barring SRH in 2016,” Sidhu added.
If RCB win their last two league games, they will be a part of Qualifier 1. Gujarat Titans’ recent loss to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has made it simpler for RCB to finish in the top two.
