Overview:
Kaneria, who has been speaking against Afridi, also accused him of treating him unfairly during their playing days.
Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistan cricketer, backed Irfan Pathan‘s comments about Shahid Afridi. In a recent podcast, Pathan opened up about his encounters with Afridi, particularly highlighting that he dismissed the former Pakistan captain 11 times in international matches. Pathan was blunt in his criticism, referring to Afridi as a “badtameez aadmi” (rude individual). Kaneria, who has been speaking against Afridi, also accused him of treating him unfairly during their playing days.
In an interview with Lallantop, Pathan recounted a particular incident from the 2006 tour to Pakistan, where a confrontation took place on a flight. He stated that Afridi was the one to provoke the altercation by messing with his hair. Pathan responded strongly. “The immature behaviour came from him, not me. We weren’t friends. After that, Afridi used some foul language towards me. His seat was just next to mine,” Pathan said.
“I said, ‘He must have eaten dog meat, because he was barking.’ After that, Afridi didn’t have anything to say,” he added.
Danish Kaneria responded to the viral video, commenting that Afridi displays a lack of “class and decency” and often resorts to making personal jabs.
“Irfan bhai, you’re absolutely right. He always resorts to personal attacks. Be it on someone’s family or their religion. Class and decency clearly aren’t his strengths,” Kaneria wrote on X.
