Rajasthan Royals lost just four wickets against Delhi Capitals in the allotted 20 overs but still lost the contest while chasing 189. Considering the current batting template in the shortest format, Rajasthan was the favourite to score the required runs in the 20th over of their chase. However, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer, the two set batters, could accumulate 8 runs against Mitchell Starc.
In fact, Jurel was run out on the last delivery. The match went to the Super Over, and the Royals were again found wanting and were dismissed without even facing 6 balls. Starc bowled a no-ball and conceded two boundaries, but the two run outs of the Rajasthan’s willow holder sealed the game in Delhi’s favour.
Harbhajan Singh, who was in the commentary box, was surprised to see the blunders committed by the visiting franchise in Delhi.
“I like this kind of match, not the ones where 200 runs are scored. However, Rajasthan committed a lot of mistakes. They got several chances to win the game, but the team didn’t take the right calls in tough situations.
“Dhruv Jurel should have taken a double in the 20th over, and by no means the match should have gone to the Super Over. Delhi were heading for a defeat but took the game away from Rajasthan in the last two overs. DC fought till the end,” he said.
