Royal Challengers Bengaluru haven’t won an IPL title despite reaching the final on three occasions. The franchise has been a home to match winners, but the ultimate success has eluded them since the inception of the tournament in 2008. Mike Hesson, who was associated with the Bengaluru-based team for years, thinks RCB can win 2 to 3 titles in quick succession.
“There is a desperation to win an IPL title at RCB. The franchise is run like a business, and the owners want to lift the trophy. The pressure to end the title drought grows every year,” he told CricketNext.
“However, RCB stick with a plan for a longer duration of time than some other franchises. RCB haven’t been able to win the title because you turn up against eight or nine outstanding teams, so I don’t think we can say that they have been doing anything particularly wrong. I think some of the franchises have given more chances to the players to show their skills,” he added.
He made a bold prediction about the future of RCB. “I think once RCB win their first trophy, don’t be surprised they add two or three more quickly to their trophy cabinet. Sometimes you try too hard and get desperate for the first time, and once it is achieved, you can relax a bit,” he mentioned.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru started their IPL 2025 campaign with a thumping win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
