The final match of the 5-match Test series between India and England will be played at The Oval from July 31. A major controversy has erupted regarding the pitch before the start of the match. There was a heated exchange between India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and The Oval’s chief curator Lee Fortis.
The altercation began on Tuesday when Fortis instructed India’s support staff to stand 2.5 meters away from the pitch. The curator is being accused of “discrimination” against Team India because while he asked Gautam Gambhir to stay 2.5 meters away from the pitch, he allowed Brendon McCullum to go near it. In fact, Fortis himself was seen walking around on the pitch.
During the heated argument, Gambhir told Fortis, “You won’t tell us what to do. You’re just a groundsman and nothing more.”
