Virat Kohli is getting massive support in Yashasvi Jaiswal’s run-out controversy. Legendary cricketers have come out in support of the veteran cricketer after he was blamed for not responding to Jaiswal’s call. Sanjay Manjrekar called it a school boy error and slammed Kohli for turning his back on the opening batter.
Jaiswal was batting on 82 when he called Virat for a single but the non-striker didn’t show any interest and by the time he looked at Yashasvi, he was standing next to him. Pat Cummins didn’t go for a direct throw and threw the ball, which was collected by the Aussie wicket-keeper Alex Carey. He removed the bails and the southpaw had to head back.
Ravi Shastri was in no mood to blame his favourite cricketer and pointed his fingers toward Jaiswal.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t realise how quickly the ball went to Pat Cummins. Pat is really fast in that area. Even if Virat Kohli would have turned Usain Bolt, he wouldn’t have crossed the half-way mark. This was a clear error in judgement by Jaiswal.
“He was unlucky as he had a chance to score a hundred and probably a double hundred. Jaiswal was looking set and was playing the pacers comfortably,” Ravi Shastri said on Star Sports.
His dismissal also scripted Virat Kohli’s downfall as he followed him soon after, leaving the team in trouble.
