Legendary batter Sir Geoffrey Boycott has hailed Harry Brook for scoring 171 in the first innings of the series opener against New Zealand in Christchurch. Boycott mentioned that Brook makes people watch his batting.
He reached his hundred off 123 balls, his seventh in Test cricket. The right-handed batter’s 171 took the team’s total to 499.
“Everyone watches Harry Brook when he is full flow. He has charm and charisma that stop people from going to the toilet. Harry Brook has achieved success against the two best teams in the world, India and Australia. He picks his moments and doesn’t let ego impact him,” he wrote in his column for The Telegraphy.
Boycott urged the 25-year-old to give respect to world-class bowlers with the new ball.
“Give respect to Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins when they have a new ball. With runs behind his name and when the ball is older, if Harry goes on a run-scoring spree, he has more chances of winning the battle,” he added.
England won the first Test by 8 wickets, and the two teams will now compete in the second Test starting on December 6.
