India are 2-0 ahead in the five-match T20I series against England. The hosts won the series opener by 7 wickets in Kolkata, but the second contest in Chennai was close. It went to the last over, and magnificent batting by Tilak Varma sealed the game in his team’s favor. He scored 72 not out, with the help of 5 sixes and 4 fours.
However, it was Arshdeep Singh, who once again provided a good start to the team by dismissing Phil Salt in the first over of the match. Although the speedster conceded 40 runs from his four overs, his habit of picking up wickets in the powerplay is helping the Men in Blue win the matches.
Former England player Nick Knight has been praising Arshdeep from the first contest. He has reached 98 wickets in 63 T20Is and is on the verge of becoming the fast bowler to take 100 wickets in this format of the game.
“He bowls what the batters don’t like, and that is why he was named the T20I cricketer of the year by the ICC. He is one step ahead and knows what the batters are thinking,’ Nick Knight said.
Ravi Shastri also hailed the seamer. “He made his debut in 2022 and has made rapid strides. He is the leader of the Indian bowling attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence,” Ravi Shastri said.
