RCB bowlers were spot-on against PBKS in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2025. They dismissed Punjab Kings for 101 runs in 14.1 overs, with Suyash Sharma winning the Player of the Match award for taking three wickets and conceding 17 runs from his three overs. He dismissed Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh and Musheer Khan. The 22-year-old spinner was with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous season but was not retained. Bengaluru were looking for a spinner and bought Suyash for INR 2.60 crore in the mega auction.
Former RCB coach Sanjay Bangar lauded the young spinner for his match-winning contribution with the ball.
“Suyash has improved a lot. He was with KKR last season, and the franchise won the tournament. However, Suyash was inconsistent and bowled a lot of full tosses and short balls. He worked on his weakness and is bowling right line and length. Sharma now has a good control,” Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports.
In 13 matches, he has taken 8 wickets and has supported the lead spinner Krunal Pandya. He will play a key role in the final of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.
“Everyone is happy for me”: Suyash Sharma
Suyash spoke about his bowling after the match. “Everyone is happy for me because I have performed. RCB coaches want me to hit the stumps. I have to bowl wicket to wicket, be it googly or any other variation. We will celebrate on June 3,” he told Harsha Bhogle.
