Mumbai Indians have started winning in the Indian Premier League 2025. After a slow start to their season, they have won four consecutive matches and five overall to reach the fifth spot in the standings. MI’s 12-run win over Delhi Capitals lifted their confidence, and the team has been on a winning spree since then. Mumbai were behind for most of the contest but scripted a memorable comeback. After a difficult 17th season, where they finished 10th, Mumbai have started giving their best performances.
Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain in 2023, and the all-rounder was subjected to taunts, boos, and humiliating gestures by the ardent supporters of the five-time champions. However, he managed to bring them to his side by playing a key role in the success of Team India in the ICC T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
In the ongoing IPL edition, he has contributed across departments so far. Hardik has scored 104 runs and taken 12 wickets from eight matches.
Former player Suresh Raina has heaped massive praise on Hardik, putting him in the league of legendary all-rounders Albie Morkel, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo.
Albie and Barvo were magnificent for the Chennai Super Kings, while Pollard made his performance count for the Mumbai Indians.
“Hardik Pandya is a different player. He bowls four overs and bats aggressively. He is in the mould of Albie Morkel, Dwayne Bravo, and Kieron Pollard. I want him to play Test cricket as he brings stability to the team. There are only a few players like him at the moment,” Suresh Raina said.
“His commitment is top class. Hardik was booed last season at the Wankhede but made a memorable comeback. He has been superb as a bowler for MI this season. Hardik has a lot of variations and is bowling slow balls and yorkers to perfection. His batting has been superb, and he is hitting big shots,” he added.

Raina also praised Krunal Pandya, Hardik’s elder brother. He is playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and has taken 12 wickets in 9 matches.
“Both Pandya brothers are dominating the IPL 2205. Krunal has been phenomenal with the ball for RCB. He was named the Player of the Match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Krunal is not allowing batters to score runs,” Raina said.
