Aakash Chopra has slammed the Australian media for criticizing Ravindra Jadeja after the all-rounder didn’t speak in English and to the local journalist during a press conference at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
He mentioned that Jadeja is in Australia to play cricket and not give interviews. The fourth Test will start in Melbourne on December 26. The former India opener mentioned that Jadeja had every right to speak in Hindi.
“There was a talk about Ravindra Jadeja not giving answers in Hindi. His name is Ravindra Jadeja and not Ravi. There was a discussion about why he only spoke in Hindi and not in English,” Aakash Chopra said.
“It is your problem if you don’t understand Hindi. He is not obligated to speak in the language you understand. He is there to play cricket and not interviews. I don’t know whether he came late on that day or not, but a lot is being said about his press conference,” he added.
The media manager of the visiting team didn’t allow Australian journalists to ask questions as the all-rounder had to catch the team bus. A proposed match between the Indian and Australian media was also canceled.
