India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against England. He suffered a side strain during the series opener in Kolkata and didn’t compete in the second game. He played in all the five Tests against Australia and even scored a hundred in the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.25.
Former player Aakash Chopra opined on the fresh injury setback for Team India.
“Nitish has been ruled out of the series. When you play international cricket, the workload is different,” Chopra said.
Chopra also highlighted that Reddy was a part of the Playing XI in all five Tests against Australia.
“He played five Tests in Australia and it took a toll on his body. He is a young cricketer and body doens’t last long when you are new to international cricket,” he added.
“His body was not ready for this type of workload and he broke down. Shivam Dube has replaced him,” he concluded.
The Men in Blue are 2-0 ahead against England and the third match is in Rajkot on January 28.
