Cauliflowers and cabbages are vegetables often harbouring hidden worms that are difficult to detect and remove, as they can blend in with the vegetable’s colour. This deters many people from consuming these vegetables. However, there’s a simple trick to draw out those hidden worms and make your cauliflower and cabbage safe to eat.
Here’s how to remove cabbage worms:
Cauliflower and cabbage worms often hide inside the leaves. Therefore, it is essential to cut the cabbage (or cauliflower) into small pieces. Next, one should add salt to a large vessel of hot water. The cabbage pieces should then be soaked in this water for 10-15 minutes. This process will force the insects to come out or die due to dehydration.
To clean a cabbage, one should begin by cutting it into smaller pieces. The cut cabbage should be placed in a bowl of water and washed thoroughly two to three times. Next, a solution of water and vinegar should be prepared, ensuring it is well mixed. The cabbage should be submerged in this solution and left to soak for a short period.
The vinegar acts as a natural disinfectant, effectively eliminating germs, bacteria, and fungi. After this process, the cabbage will be thoroughly cleaned.
To remove insects from cabbage, one should fill a vessel with hot water and add salt and turmeric. The chopped cabbage should be submerged in this solution and allowed to soak for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, the cabbage should be rinsed thoroughly with clean water before using it to prepare your desired dishes. This process will effectively eliminate any insects present within the cabbage.
