India captain Rohit Sharma is not retiring from the ODI format. There were reports of him bidding adieu after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told him to come clean on his future. The Men in Blue will not play the fifty-over format in the coming months and with the next World Cup in 2027, the decision-makers are looking for a skipper who can lead the team in the next two years.
With India winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by four wickets against New Zealand, Rohit cleared the air on his future. “I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward,” Rohit Sharma said in the post match press conference.

Rohit was named the Player of the Match for scoring 76 runs off 83 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India completed the chase of 252 runs in 49 overs to lift the Champions Trophy for the third time, becoming the first team to script this record.
Earlier, the Kiwis were restricted to 251/7 despite fifties by Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell. For India, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each.
India kept losing wickets but small contributions from the batters took the team home. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 34 runs in a tense chase.
