The International Cricket Council is satisfied with PCB’s briefing about the renovation work being carried out in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
As per a report in Geo News, the apex body of Pakistan cricket gave assurance to the ICC that the work in the stadiums would be completed on time for the big event.
PCB chairman Moshin Naqvi was also present during the ICC meeting. He invited the officials to visit Pakistan to review the upgrades to the venues. The ICC tournament will be played from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi as the venues.
The PCB wants to host the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and it seems the country is not leaving any stone unturned for the marquee event. However, India hasn’t confirmed its participation due to political tensions between the two countries.
Pakistan has kept Lahore as the venue for Team India’s matches, including the knockouts. The PCB has given another proposal to the BCCI, allowing the team to leave Pakistan after playing every game and settle down in Delhi or Chandigarh to avoid staying in the neighboring country. However, the BCCI official has denied receiving any proposal, adding that even if they get a proposal from the PCB, it would be rejected.
There is also an option of organizing the tournament in a hybrid model, with India playing their matches in the UAE. If the Men in Blue qualify for the playoffs, even one of the semi-finals and the final will be played outside Pakistan.
