The International Cricket Council has achieved success regarding the next year’s Champions Trophy. India will play its matches in Dubai while agreeing to a similar formula in multi-teams tournaments till 2027.
According to a top ICC source, the decision was finalised during a meeting between the apex body’s new chairman Jay Shah and the Board of Directors of all the members.
“It’s been agreed that the Champions Trophy will be conducted in the UAE and Pakistan with the Men in Blue playing their matches in Dubai. It’s a win-win situation for all parties,” the ICC source told PTI.
The Champions Trophy will be played in February-March next year.
Pakistan gave up on his boycott threat and agreeing to host the global tournament in a hybrid model. The Pakistan Cricket Board wanted a hybrid model for all the ICC events till 2031 but the ICC agreed till 2027.
During this period, India will host the women’s ODI World Cup in October in 2025 and the men’s T20 World Cup along with Sri Lanka in 2026.
“During the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play iall the matches in Sri Lanka. Their compensation demanded for the Champions Trophy hybrid model hasn’t been finalized,” the source said.
The Indian women’s team will travel to a neutral venue to play against Pakistan if the two teams are kept in the same group.
