Usman Khawaja has expressed his desire to wear shoes with a special note for the people of Palestine during the first Test between Australia and Pakistan in Perth. However, former Simon O’Donnell is completely against Khawaja’s gesture.
Israel forces continue to bomb Gaza in retaliation to Hamas attack. More than 18,000 innocent citizens of Palestine have lost their lives with no end in sight.
Khawaja, who has been vocal about the plight of the normal individuals in Gaza, recently practiced with shoes displaying two messages.
He wore the shoes, which read: “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal.”
Reacting to Usman’s clear message, Simon said Khawaja has no right to bring his personal beliefs into play.
“He should be able to state his beliefs on his own platform. But when he is representing Australia, he has no right, nil, zero, to bring his personal beliefs and instil those onto others,” Simon said.a
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council could take action against the opener if goes ahead with his planned move. The rules and regulations don’t allow any player to display any message that has got political affiliation.
