The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted matches from Bengaluru to Rajkot after a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Although the Indian Cricket Board didn’t give any reason behind their decision, it seems the apex body of the Indian cricket is not pleased with the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
The three-match ODI series between India A and South Africa A scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from November 13 to 19 will now be played in Rajkot.
The KSCA president didn’t say anything about the reason but mentioned that there was no connection between the stampede and change of venues.
Before the white-ball matches, the two teams will also compete in a two red-ball games at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence near the Bengaluru airport.
According to sources, the BCCI and the International Cricket Council are discussing about the Women’s World Cup matches that are to be held in Bengaluru.
M Chinnaswamy Stadium was likely to be finalized for the opening match, a semi-final and the final. However, the situation has changed after a stampede resulted in 11 deaths.
The KSCA will not host big matches as the stadium also needs renovation after damage to the infrastructure.
