Aakash Chopra heaped massive praise on Mumbai Indians for their dominating performance against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Playing at the Wankhede Stadium for the first time in the 18th season, the five-time champions defeated the visiting team by 8 wickets. It was a one-sided game as the Ajinkya Rahane-led team failed to challenge the hosts in all departments of the game.
Ashwani Kumar was the star of the show, taking four wickets on his IPL debut, while struggling Ryan Rickelton finally managed to get a half-century under his belt. The fielding was phenomenal.
“Near perfect game for Mumbai Indians. It is a message to the rivals. The bowlers and batters were spot on, and Mumbai Indians finally managed to win a game. They played like fast local train and completed the proceedings way before the allotted time. Mumbai needed this win after a difficult start to the season,” Aakash Chopra said on Star Sports.
MI were beaten by Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans in the first two matches of IPL 2025, with the players finding it hard to challenge the two teams. However, MI’s return to their home turf gave confidence to the players, and they came on top against the defending champions.
On the other hand, KKR have won just won game and lost two in the ongoing season. They are 10th in the points table.
