Former India player Parthiv Patel has compared MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma on the captaincy front, claiming that the CSK captain made big blunders, but Rohit avoided mistakes.
Parthiv said that Rohit brings calmness to the team. “MI won two IPL titles just by one run, and that is only possible if you have a calm leader who keeps his teammates free from pressure.
“When the situation is tense, the captain ends up making a mistake or a blunder, but I don’t remember Rohit committing one in the last ten years.
“Even MS Dhoni has made blunders like giving an over to Pawan Negi, but Rohit has been free of mistakes during crunch time. Dhoni always suggests keeping the process simple, but Rohit always does it,” Parthiv Patel told JioCinema.
According to Parthiv, Rohit has always supported his players despite them, not in the form of failing miserably.
“He has backed players throughout his career. Look at Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Their careers would have ended had Rohit not rescued them. The biggies of the franchise wanted to get rid of both of them after just one poor season, but Rohit said no and managed to convince them and the rest his history,” Parthiv Patel added.
Zaheer Khan, who has a long association with Mumbai, heaped massive praise on Rohit.
“Rohit takes decisions according to the situation. He is a proactive captain and doesn’t believe in going according to what has been discussed in the dressing room. If a need arises to change the pre-discussed plan, he will take the call,” Zaheer Khan said.
