India vs Pakistan is considered one of the most highly anticipated and widely viewed matches in world cricket. However, fans may not get to witness this iconic clash anytime soon. Why?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that India will not participate in the upcoming Women’s Emerging Asia Cup and the Men’s Asia Cup 2025. The primary reason behind this decision is the escalating border tensions and ongoing political differences between India and Pakistan.
Currently, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)- the governing body for the Asia Cup is headed by Mohsin Naqvi, who is not only the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but also a serving minister in the Pakistani government.
A senior BCCI official stated, “It is against national sentiment to take part in a tournament overseen by a Pakistani minister. We cannot be part of a competition under such leadership.”
Accordingly, India has officially withdrawn from the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, and the BCCI continues to stay in close consultation with the Indian government regarding participation in any future ACC events.
