Cricket Australia is making strides to enhance inclusivity as Pakistan prepares for a 3-match Test series against Australia. In a commendable move, the organizers have reserved a special section, termed ‘Pakistan Bay,’ exclusively for the touring team’s supporters during the first Test in Perth.
With an anticipated crowd of around 18,000 for the Perth match, Cricket Australia is aiming to create a unique and welcoming atmosphere for Pakistan fans. Cricket Australia has allocated two specific zones to create an environment that aligns with the spirit of the visiting team and its supporters.
The Pakistan Bay is not just a symbolic gesture; it also reflects a commitment to align with the beliefs of the touring team and its followers. Notably, this designated area has been declared an alcohol-free zone, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural preferences.
Moreover, the organizers have gone a step further to cater to the culinary preferences of Pakistan fans. Reports from Geo TV indicate that the Pakistan Bay will offer a range of options, including tea and halal, along with desi food choices. These arrangements underscore a concerted effort to provide a family-friendly ambiance within the stadium for Pakistan supporters.
Despite the positive developments for Pakistan fans in Perth, the team has faced challenges during the tour. Visa and passport issues have led to the absence of the official team doctor, Sohail Saleem, creating a notable void in the team’s support staff. Saleem, designated as the team doctor for the series in Australia and New Zealand, is yet to join the squad.
