Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower heaped praise on Virat Kohli’s batting heroics ahead of the clash against Lucknow Super Giants. The former Zimbabwe international spoke in a press conference on his team’s progress.
On being asked about Virat Kohli’s game and form this year, Flower stated he loves watching Virat Kohli bat.
“As a former batter, I see Virat bat in the nets and in the games as well. I love watching him bat and it is my privilege. He is a class player and I love what he does. He is aware of the game all the time and identifies what needs to be done to help the team win the game. I want him to keep up the tempo and hope he is consistent throughout the tournament.” said Flower.
Flower was about the two paced pitch and the big scores being chased easily in Bengaluru. He commented that the Chinnaswamy ground is much smaller and once the batters are set, they will go for runs.
“Chinnaswamy is a small ground, and the ball travels over here. Once our top batters are set, there will be big scores. We made a 180+ score last game but it was chased in the 17th over. I expect the pitch to be a little bit different than what it was in the last game. Looking at all the sides and their batting so far, I think the top score is yet to be achieved.”
Flower also opined on RCB’s failure to dominate games in Bengaluru.
“Our top batters have not found their rhythm. They need runs because big scores will be recorded over here. Once they start firing, we’ll score 200 runs in every match.” he commented.
“We need to know when we should attack and when to defend. When we bowl we need to figure out how to give less boundaries, especially when the dew comes in. We have to play our best game and not rely on the toss for the outcome of the matches.” he concluded.
