Rohit Sharma, India’s ODI skipper, has become the subject of intense speculation after social media reports claimed he achieved a Yo-Yo fitness test score of 19.4. The veteran opener recently visited the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for standard fitness checks and pre-season evaluations. Joining Rohit at the CoE were Test captain Shubman Gill and several other players named in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, all undergoing similar assessments ahead of the tournament.
Despite widespread chatter online, no official word has come from the BCCI regarding Rohit’s reported score. According to the board’s protocols, player fitness data is strictly confidential. In fact, BCCI guidelines state that any unauthorised disclosure of test results could lead to disciplinary action.

At the same time, India’s strength and conditioning coach, Adrian le Roux, has proposed adding the Bronco Test, a stamina-based assessment inspired by rugby, to maintain the fitness levels.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on 9 September, several key Indian players have already completed their assessments at the Bengaluru facility. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and took part in the fitness test.
