Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is still uncertain over Jasprit Bumrah availability for the last ODI against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ODI series will start in Nagpur on February 6.
The right-arm seamer suffered a back injury during the fifth and final Test against Australia. He didn’t bowl in the second innings of the Sydney Test.
According to reports, Bumrah will miss the ODI series and the Champions Trophy due to his injury and it will be a miracle if the speedster is able to recover before the ICC tournament in Pakistan and Dubai.
“We are waiting for his reports and once we get them, we will have clarity on his availability. I don’t know whether he will play the last ODI or not,” Rohit Sharma told reporters.
Bumrah is a part of India’s provisional 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, India have added Varun Chakravarthy to the squad for the upcoming series against England. Rohit confirmed that Varun is in contention to play for India in the Champions Trophy.
“He is a different bowler. I know he has been successful in T20Is but he has got something different as a bowler. We wanted to have an option and he will get a chance in the ODI series against England. We haven’t thought about his participation in the Champions Trophy but he is in contention to travel to Dubai.”
