AB de Villiers has hit out at his former franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, for not forming a core group of players like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
They again released a couple of big players ahead of IPL 2024. Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel.
He also questioned the release of Funny Allen, who was with the franchise for years but was not given enough chances.
“RCB have failed to form a core group for the last 5 or 10 years. They have released several players every year without giving them chances. That’s one area of concern. You have to trust young players like MI and CSK. Players over there become legends because they are not dropped or released after a handful of failures,” AB de Villiers said.
“Bowling has always been weak. Bowlers have bowled no balls and conceded extra runs. Even the batters haven’t contributed in important games. It is of no use to point finger as matches are won with a collective effort,” he added.
