Indian selectors have often defied logic and there is no one who can come out in the open to clarify their decisions. Former India player Aakash Chopra has been vocal about the bizarre process.
Shivam Dube, who did reasonably well for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023, was given a chance in th five-match T20I series against Australia.
However, he failed to break into the playing XI across five matches. The all-rounder was dropped for the three-match T20I series in South Africa.
Aakash took to X to raise a valid point of Dube’s exclusion.
“Sometimes you wonder about selections and certain players. India picked Shivam Dubey for a 5-match T20i series vs Australia. Didn’t play him in a single match. Now, he doesn’t make it to the 17-member squad vs SA. How does one communicate this to a player?” he wrote.
Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee didn’t give any reason behind their call to leave out Shivam.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav is leading India in the Rainbow Nation.
