Sanjay Bangar has returned to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He has been appointed as the new Head of Cricket Development. Bangar was a part of PBKS coaching staff from 2014 to 2016.
“Mr. Bangar has a wealth of experience, which will help our organisation. We are confident that he will take our cricket development programs to new heights,” the franchise wrote on X.
Punjab Kings made it to the final under Bangar in 2014. They haven’t been able to qualify for the playoffs even once since then.
“It’s a privilege to return to Punjab Kings,” Sanjay Bangar said. “We have good players and didn’t release many this year. The challenge will be to support the players during and after the season to make the franchise stronger and achieve success.”
Bangar has also worked with the Indian team. He was RCB’s head coach during the 2022 and 2023 editions. However, his contact was not renowned for the upcoming season.
