Mayank Yadav has become the talk of the town after he took three wickets in his debut game against Punjab Kings. Playing in his first game, he stunned Punja’s batters. Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow were uncomfortable while facing the 21-year-old.
Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar recalled Shoaib Akhtar while giving a new name to the pace sensation of India.
Apart from Manjrekar, Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Kaif also lauded the Delhi-based Player. LSG bought him for INR 20 lakh ahead of IPL 2024. Mayank dismissed Bairstow, which started the collapse, and Punjab lost the contest by 31 runs.
“Shoaib Akhtar played for Pakistan and was called Rawalpindi Express because of his pace. I would call Mayank Yadav Rajdhani Express. This train used to run from Mumbai to Delhi,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.
Jonny Bairstow (42), Prabhsimran Singh (19) and Jitesh Sharma (8) were Yadav’s three scalps. He conceded just 27 runs from four overs.
The right-arm fast bowler hasn’t played a lot of cricket for Delhi, but his sensational spell against PBKS will open doors for him.
He clocked 156 kmph and was named the Player of the Match.
Mayank. Yadav put us on the back foot, says Shikhar Dhawan
Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan heaped massive praise on the young bowler. He admitted that Mayank put them out of the game.
“He bowled exceptionally well and changed his line and length smartly. His pace was not easy to handle and he outsmart us in the game. After him, Mohsin Khan was also spot on. He bowled a perfect line and took important wickets,” Shikhar Dhawan added.
