England openers were terrified and afraid of facing Jasprit Bumrah in their second innings of the third Test at Lord’s. Both teams scored 387 runs each in their first innings and when India came out to bowl in the last few minutes of Day 3, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were in no mood to face two overs.
Crawley made excuses to keep Bumrah waiting, which angered the speedster and captain Shubman Gill.
“Show some balls,” Gill told the two batters. The umpires tried to separate the players, with the visitors sledging the English cricketers.
The confrontation escalated when Crawley was hit on his finger and called for the physio. Shubman Gill’s team thought Zak was playing another trick to prevent the rivals from bowling the second over. Gill started clapping to mock Crawley and said something to the batter, who also hit back.
Ben Duckett also entered the scene and was involved in a heated argument with the southpaw. The verbal slugfest continued after the over as well.
