A European city has been earmarked among some of the cheapest destinations to visit for a 2024 holiday. Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, has long been a popular tourist trap.
But with a cost of living crunch hitting purses and wallets harder than before, people who can afford an overseas holiday are looking for places that won’t break the bank. Lisbon has been named as one of the best value destinations for next year – with a pint of beer costing the equivalent to £2.50.
A hearty evening meal is predicted to cost around £14, and a nice cup of coffee will come for around £1. Over the years, Lisbon has established itself as the most cost-effective choice for a city break in Europe, surpassing traditional budget-friendly destinations in Eastern Europe.
Nestled along the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula, Lisbon boasts a unique charm characterised by its colorful neighborhoods, historic architecture, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Tagus River.
The city’s timeless allure, friendly locals, and a perfect blend of tradition and modernity make it an enticing destination for travelers seeking a diverse and enriching experience.
The nation has a population of approximately 84 million, and 34,000 Brits have opted to establish their permanent residence there.
