Former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal has expressed the view that Virat Kohli should rethink his decision to retire from Test cricket and consider making a comeback to the format. His comment came after India’s defeat in the third Test against England.
India missed a golden opportunity to gain the upper hand, falling short in their chase of 193 in the fourth innings of the recently concluded match at Lord’s. Kohli, on the other hand, had announced his retirement from Test cricket a month before the England tour, ending his remarkable 123-match career in the format.
“Virat Kohli’s dedication to Indian cricket was unparalleled. I hope he considers returning to Test cricket after his retirement. There’s no harm in making a comeback. If not in this series, he should aim for a return in the next one,” Madan Lal said.
“In my opinion, he should reconsider his retirement. He still has the ability to play for another 1-2 years. It’s about sharing your experience with the younger players. You’ve left it too soon. It’s not too late, please return,” Madan Lal added.
